I have no doubt that Maradona is the greatest footballer of my generation. I would go as far as saying, in living memory.

It is unfortunate that he has fallen on hard times, due largely to his on fault. But if we must give honour to whom its due, who else but Diego Amando Maradona!

Diego, who could ever hate you? No-one...not for too long, I reckon.

Maradona? Is he the soccer god? I didn't see any evidence of marching in the street, but there were coffee-table books about him in every storefront.

I didn't dare enter a McDonald's down there -- they were shooting calories at us with a firehose -- but I did see an intriguing menu item touted in the windows: "Big Mac Lite," a smaller version of the original. Honestly, that's something that might get me ordering them on my rare trips to Mickey D's stateside.

In general, I think that BK is probably the most inconsistent chain, restaurant to restaurant, there is. KFC is fairly consistent (in Europe), and Pizza Hut is astonishingly consistent.

I'm in Warsaw right now, and they have Mexican burgers at McD's. I think the only difference is mild, mild salsa.

The rest of the food is like the McD's in Normal, IL.

At the McD's in Prague (all of Czech, for that matter), they have some funky Czech Czeeseburger which does not have pickles, but does have raw cukes. Also, they didn't have 1/4 pounders (aka "Royal). They did have "Le Big Mac".

What I'm shocked about is that NN hasn't mentioned anything about the Church of Maradona. I KNOW they had a demonstration when you were down there...you hear anything about it?

couldn't help but notice the ubiquitous golden arches in that soccer-party photo. what a legacy to the world, no?

i'm curious -- do you know whether the food there in any way resembled what's served at mcdonald's in the states? when i was in europe in 1988, we stumbled upon a burger king during a brief layover at the train station in munich. i'd been across the pond almost two weeks at that point, and an american cheeborger sounded great. it was anything but. it was gray, pasty and gooey, with the the texture of a pudding that had gone very, very wrong. gave me a whole new appreciation for the whoppers back home.
