Coffee? Check. TurboTax? Check. Shoebox full of barely organized receipts? Laptop with fast connection? Deeply felt fear of what sort of misery might be waiting on the other end? Check, check and check.
In other words, the grown-up world requires my presence today. Y’all go back to watching the Pope’s funeral, and I’ll catch you after the weekend. Feel free to discuss whatever’s on your mind in the comments, but me, I’ll be sweatin’.

A friend of mine works part-time answering phones in CPA’s office. Full days on Monday and Wednesday and half a day on Thursday are the norm. But in mid February she disappears and doesn’t see the light of day again until April 20 or so. Earlier this week I sent an email encouraging her to hang on, that there was plenty of great beer to drink over a leisurely lunch when the madness ends. Days later she replied, “Keep thinking of me. Things are getting ugly here.”

There’s something about the cute toddler in the zeitgeist, always showing up at the same time as the boob photo…La Leche pamphlets come to mind.

I count one-two-three after the boob picture – then I see myself! (All covered up, I might add)
