What is it about extramarital sex that makes folks' love notes sound like junior high? My ex forgot to delete from the delete file, his mash notes to his lover and I've saved them over the past nine years, wondering whether to use them now as he's running for his first statewide office (he told me he wanted a divorce the day after he was sworn in for the first time as a state legislator--with me and the children there to complete the photo perfect scene just once for him) or later if he ever runs for governor, as he has boasted to friends that he will do.

Was it JoeK who said "If it ain't Boeing, I ain't going"? I guess an A320 is alright as long as the nose wheel is pointed in the right direction when it lands.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ERFf91rkc6w

There have been something like 15 of these incidents. Oh, and this is why those airline captains are paid decent bucks. This LAX incident was great for the media. I watched it live on the 5:00 news. It was perfect. Drama, scariness, suspense and a happy ending. Everytime somebody says "A320" I think of it.

Easy please, Caliban. I used to have a mild letch for Jane Birkin.

I always thought Me and Mrs. Jones was the perfect embodiment of insincere, sleazy, adulterous braggadocio from a smirking, egocentric Lothario with no real interest in the object of his lust. So, I suppose, it’s the perfect soundtrack for the unbridled id of Kwame “Je t’aime--moi non plus” Kilpatrick.

For some reason, this put me in mind of Clarence Carter, the anguish of love bordering on obsession, and heartbreaking Stax/Volt guitars (courtesy of the singer himself). So, thanks for making my day.

Of course, Clarence was not immune to the concupiscent angle on this sort of arrangement.

(Neither of these ‘videos’ is remotely watchable, but for sincerity and salaciousness, the two songs are wonderful. I seriously doubt that Strokin’ ever got any air play.)

In re Obama and Rev. Wright: My wife walked out of her church (Lutheran) when the new preacher started talking about dinosaurs on Noah's Ark. I'm not sure which was worse, that he believed an obvious fairy tale like Noah's Ark or that, contrary to all scientific evidence, he believed that dinosaurs existed a scant 5000 years ago.

Me, I quit all churchs when I left home.

I am totally with Joe K on the false promises thing. The three candidates are all senators - why haven't they used their current powers to make the changes they are promising? The president is an administrator - a powerful one, yes, but most of the work gets done in a different branch of the government, the one that the three candidates are currently in. I'm probably being too simplistic on this, but I've always wondered why we think a president can work miracles. Some do (both of the Roosevelts, in my opinion); most don't.
And Miley, or whatever her name is? She's catching flack for showing a bare back, but I'm way more creeped out by the picture with her dad.

Dexter and Joe can both laugh at me, but those Airbus 320s seem to wiggle their wings up and down way more than should be necessary.

Anyhow, it landed, and i made it home. Agree with most of what Dexter said, and say again in Rev. Wright's . . . um, defense isn't really what i'm going for, but the fact that the other big faith community down the block was Mosque Maryam No. 2 pastored by Louis Farrakhan leaves me cutting Wright more slack than most of my ministerial colleagues might think was proper.

They haven't driven the Dan Ryan, either. I don't drive I-270 around Columbus the way i do up I-94 -- context isn't everything, but it's pretty important.

We gotta stop disavowing people, though. This is just getting silly.

[Pat Paulsen for President! He'd never disavow Tommy Smothers . . .]

I dunno Alex - she may not be GOP; she looks a little like Dee Dee Myers (big-time Democrat).....still, your larger point is well taken.

Lots of people do indeed lead reconstructed lives; I suppose it could be argued that an unreconstructed life would be essentially pointless (what WOULD be the point of growing older, once one escaped High School and then their 20's, if not to improve/reinvent/reconstruct/rethink?)

We fags live a reconstructed life every day. All for the benefit of someone else's comfort level. Hell, anyone can do it, and all that much easier with an O-positive vanilla sex drive.

She looks like she has redeemed herself as a good Republican bleach-and-mousse conservative, so here's hoping the hacks on the bench give her some air kisses and a slap on her tennis bracelet.

Speaking of female felony fashion, check out this article, and especially the pictures!

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24391957/

The woman escaped (or simply walked out of!) the Detroit House of Corrections 32 years ago (now the Robert Scott Correctional Facility).....and, while she looked the part of a fugitive in 1976, she looks marvelously "corrected" now! The pictures are so striking (to me, anyway) that they trump her remarkable story (sure to be a Lifetime movie, if it isn't already)

(One wonders how she ever explained to the people in her reconstructed life how she had no family or friends from her early years)
