Nothing to see here.

Friends, in one hour I have to be standing in front of Dr. Larry, DVM, for a follow-up check on the Sprigster. At the end of the day, I have the well-child pediatrician appointment. In between, one final present to buy and, oh yeah, work.

So I’ll be leaving you with not much today, although I could be back to sprinkle a little magic around the room. For starters, why don’t we kick off with today’s O.I.D. (only in Detroit) story?

A 30-year-old bus driver transporting Detroit Public Schools special needs students was arrested Wednesday after allegedly pulling his bus alongside an undercover officer, propositioning her for sex from his window, and promising to return after he dropped the children off at school.

Every day in this town, reading the newspaper is like getting a little show for 50 cents.

Say what you will about Ashley Morris, but she sure made some cute kids.

Do you have Gmail? Then you can do virtually instantaneous translation. J.C. checks it out with a few test phrases.

Later, pals.

At least the OID stories have their humorous side. OIFW stories are always so somber. Today’s talker is the discovery of some people who’ve been keeping a child’s corpse in their home for at least the last two years. Can’t quite bring myself to read about the details yet and haven’t.

    You and me both, Alex.

Aside from that, that Ashley Morris gets my vote for mom-of-the-year! A beautiful family, indeed; and the photo is such a balanced composition…almost….painterly!

    Very good looking kids, Ash.

Now if you would only take that picture of the evil mime down. It looks to be hovering over the children like the clown from Stephen King’s “It.” Scares the crap outta me!

Hey, I may have to pick up a copy of the White Book over the holidays. Looks like a good read and lot’s of good pictures too.

Adorable children, Ashley! Do they have confusing names?

Oh man…and it was a bus full of special needs kids. There’s the cherry on top.

Alex, don’t read it. Just don’t.

Thanks brian, Danny, and Sue. Da Wife took the pic, she gets the cred.

The mime pic was from the first Mardi Gras parade in NOLA after Katrina. Our theme was “Buy us back, Chirac”, and we dressed in annoying French garb. Me, I was the mime that actually was stuck in a plexiglas box. Believe it or don’t, that pic was on the BBC, CNN, and NBC. Harry Shearer called me his favorite mime, ever. I say it was my intense hatred of mimes that powered me through.

Children have happy names: Kateřina Nicole, Annabel Lee, and well…Rey d’Orleans. If he complains, I’ll tell him he could have been Ashley Jr.

Here’s hoping the Ashley is hors de combat in the riot at the gates of City Hall in New Orleans…

(to paraphrase Robert Duvall – I hate the smell of Pepper Spray in the morning. It smells like….injustice)

My wife called to make sure I wasn’t there. I wasn’t. What a pathetic display by everybody.

What gets me most is that many of the “public housing advocates” are white students that came in to “be a part of something”.
