Amateur radiology, anyone?

This might be the ultimate in navel-gazing, but if nothing else, it’s pretty cool.

Turns out you can open DICOM files — a medical standard, according to J.C. the Genius — with a free program called iRad.

UPDATE: John suggests this post needs a soundtrack. I agree. Press play, but be warned, song is NSFW, but pretty funny. (And the title shown isn’t the name of the song, probably obscured for bot-foiling purposes.)

Looks to me like there’s sinovial fluid leaking into your patellar capsule, but I’d have to check my Visible Woman model to make sure. And I switched from pre-med to occasional recreational drug user my sophomore year in high school.

Say, if you’ve high-speed internet, click this link and then go to Keith Olbermann’s ‘Special Comment’ about Senator Clinton’s absolutely and grotesquely crass and inexcuseable remarks, when asked why she is still in the race –

“My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California. You know I just, I don’t understand it,”

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24796393/

Olbermann is overwrought, as usual – but for Christ’s Sake!! As Olbermann says – we (many of us) have forgiven a lot from her in the recent past (particularly rankling was her complimentary remarks about McCain as opposed to Obama), and her ‘working people; good people; white people’ riff….but this idea that her continued candidacy is justified because someone might just murder Senator Obama is just too much; it is too much to accept, or to excuse, or to minimize, or to understand. Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton may or may not be accurately described as many different things – but she is NOT stupid; she knows that the the subject of assassination is a third-rail in American politics and American history. “Apologies” directed at anyone she ‘might’ have offended is just bullshit. (maybe next week she’ll invoke the imagery of lynching)

We here in nn.c-land had this discussion about “the thing we won’t talk about” – and some of us prefer to leave it at quiet confidence in the people who dedicate their own lives to the protection of major candidates and VIPs.

I find it breathtaking and disheartening that Senator Clinton has chosen to openly, personally, and repeatedly float the prospect of the murder of her rival as a major reason to stay in the campaign; it is apparent that she is betting against the good guys

When I first heard this news this evening in the car, I truly didn’t believe it. Olbermann’s righteous indignation schtick is sometimes a bit thick, but he has it right this time.

I agree, Brian, that the 1968 contest is a very odd example of campaigns that close late to have on the tip of your tongue. It’s hardly the fact that it occurred in June that makes it memorable. And the fact that she had used the same example a couple of months ago invalidates the idea that it was Ted Kennedy’s presence in her recent thoughts that brought the example to mind, which is what she said in her apology. Since the “why stay in” question has come up before, you’d think she’d come up with an answer that didn’t involve the death of a candidate–say the 1984 Hart vs. Mondale contest, for instance.

I’ve been finding it harder and harder to be polite to Clinton supporters lately because her claims have become increasingly over the top. Her noble concern about the poor disenfranchised voters of Florida and Michigan has been nauseating all along, as has her effort to make the popular vote a meaningful outcome in the middle of a contest designed to produce delegates. It’s perfectly legitimate to challenge the rules, but not generally when one has had a large hand in making those rules, has publicly agreed to play by them, and the game is in the fourth quarter.

Equating an attempt to hold elements of the Democratic party to rules that the party as a whole has agreed to play by with Robert Mugabe’s attempt to invalidate election results in Zimbabwe, as she did this past week, is more than a little rich.

We can hope that this incident will give the superdelegates still sitting on their hands a reason to act so that there’s no doubt this will be over in June–with all players still breathing.

Now to buy a gardening tool. I made a mistake in allowing a neighbor use my garden hoe to groom out a few weeds in his flower garden…the neighbor moved out and took my hoe.
A hoe. Jeez…what kind of scumbag would steal a cheap hoe?

“You know, education, if you make the most of it, if you study hard and you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, uh, you, you can do well. If you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq.”

So, Kerry said that four years ago, and despite the fact that any functional literate could read it in context and know he was calling W an obtuse asshole, he was victimized by willful misrepresentation. And now, Clinton said something equally as clumsy and vulnerable to intentional inference absent implication, once again, for political purposes. Actually, her intention and meaning were as clear as Kerry’s had been.

Maureen Dowd says Hillary’s attitude is “[shit] happens“; Other opinionates have characterized the verbal blunder as “wishful thinking“ (what was she thinking?). Keith Olbermann did his highest moral dudgeon church lady to date, and I’d have to say, after all these months of making Sen. Clinton out to be (code word) hysterical, Keith came off as downright menopausal psycho.

People that see this as nefarious or proof that Hillary’s got 666 tattooed on her scalp, I figure they fall into three groups: gullible consumers of campaign spin; people that see “old-guard” liberal Democrats (circa the olden days of 2000) as inherently evil; and people that also gave vent to previously repressed inappropriate and impure thoughts about Miley Cyrus when they saw the Annie Liebovitz pics.

Meanwhile, RFK, Jr. provides the voice of reason. It’s still depressing that people make voting decisions this way.

Obama’s the candidate, fait accompli, and his own comments in this matter were sensible and balanced, while his campaign crew and supporters came across like Swift Boaters. Wouldn’t it make more sense at this point to ignore Hillary instead of going into Rove overdrive with an intentionally misrepresented statement that doan mean shit? It’s like they all think they’re trying to kill Rasputin. Get a grip, y’all.

Nancy–Argghhhh! Either this “internal derangement” thing is catching, or you cursed me from afar. I’m just back from the doc, and he says I have “internal derangement” of the left knee, which he suspects is actually a meniscus tear. So, now it’s on to the orthopedist on Tuesday, and I get to have *no fun* in the meanwhile, unless the Vicodin counts, which it might.

    Sheesh. Aging totally bites.

I didn’t even know I had a damned meniscus to tear. Until now, my whole sense of a “meniscus” was that it had to do with the surface tension of a liquid.

    Darn it.

    an intentionally misrepresented statement

You mean “statementS” – she has referred to the potential of assassination twice before.

I am sorry – this time I just cannot find any way to interpret this repeated sentiment of hers, as other than dark-hearted (so to speak)

Try and imagine how she would feel, or how she would react, if such a calamity (the murder of Obama) DID come to pass, now that she’s on the record (repeatedly) floating this image.

Indeed, it is not too much to say that continually evoking this notion (as she has) of the sudden violent demise of Obama is an almost theatrical “Who will rid me of this meddlesome man?” – a sort of standing offer, to the lunatic fringe.

It suddenly hit me that, if such a thing should happen, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton would not miss a beat; she’d express condolances and show up where she’s supposed to and never miss a beat (so to speak), and she might not even get caught smiling at the wrong moment…an excellent reason NOT to place her a ‘heart beat away’ from the office of the presidency of the United States
