We attended the “Hate America” rally in Fort Wayne and ran into people we hadn’t seen in years and had a great time. Lots of creativity on display in the signs and costumes, huge crowd, perfect weather after an iffy forecast (the rain storms didn’t come until evening).
We have a rented Ditch Witch skid steer loader and put it to good use these past few days, enlarging our crushed stone parking pad and schlepping tons of fallen timber to the fire pits. I could get spoiled having this thing around.

I live in a blue New England state, so a large turnout at the state capitol protest was virtually guaranteed. I was encouraged to see more younger protestors this time. It was also gratifying to read that there were many town-based protests around the state yesterday. A poster on our state’s official Republican Party page shared a picture of a Connecticut town’s former mayor (the state’s first Muslim mayor) standing with a protestor whose sign read “Cholesterol Do Your Job” – you can imagine the faux outrage and spin. Meanwhile today I learned that Trump posted an AI video of him dumping diarrhea on No Kings protestors. What a time to be alive.

We went to the Kalamazoo NK rally. Afterward, we went for a burger with a couple about our age we met there. They have high friend potential, which is great for the introvert couple that we are.
I rented a little Toro skid steer once. You can get a ton of work done in a short period of time even with something as small as they are.

Santa Fe had a few thousand protestors, pretty good for a city this size. Lots of cool signs and costumes. I don’t know if the governor participated but she should have, maybe she went to the one in Albuquerque?
My husband went to the one in Chicago which he said was massive and had good speakers including the mayor, governor, etc.
Have you guys seen the horrible shit post Trump tweeted? It’s disgusting.

Like tRump himself, those around him are witless, crude and uncouth. The AI video is something a junior high kid –someone who still laughs at the word poop– would come up with. It certainly tells us a lot more about the MAGAts around our demented Fearless Leader.

Yay – the comments are open again! For a while I was worried this site was hacked by Turning Point or Fox.
I was in the Chicago protest. I got there a little after 11:00, and I stood just beyond a sidewalk that was in the middle of the park. I looked around; not too many people behind me, looked like +/- 50K people. I was checking the signs and lost track of time; when the rally started I heard a loud roar behind me, I turned around, and WHOAH BABY the place was full!
I did see something that made me believe that young folks are doing OK and we’ll get through this just fine: at one point three guys wearing security vests were walking through. Two had yellow vests, the other one was orange. On the back of the first yellow vest: PRESS; the second, PRESS; and on the orange vest: PULL.

We didn’t go to our local event in Nashville, Mrs. B was afraid there’d be a riot and I could not convince her otherwise. Jr. went, said it was a sizable crowd with no problems and Emmylou Harris sang. The Southern Festival of Books was nearby and a little later in the day, we did get to that.
Meanwhile… only in Nashville would treatment for Parkinson’s include a guitar workshop, but our exercise group had one, everything from current & former professionals to total beginners. Learned some stretches and such, it was useful.
