Latuh, dudes.

Join me in progress later today. It’s just too nice a morning to spend another unpaid second of it at a keyboard. After the bike ride, maybe.

And even despite NOT having a contract worth millions of dollars, and NOT having an engine on your 2-wheeled transport, and therefore NOT being capable of going much above 20 mph (let alone 100mph plus) –

I bet you have a stylish (no doubt) helmet upon your head, protecting your constantly exercising brain….highlighting once again the contrast between intelligent people and unintelligent people

Brian, I think for the benefit of the Pittsburgh Steeler fans who may read this, you be a littel less nuanced. Doh!

I’m probably the A-#1 Steeler fan here, and I got Brian’s reference immediately. And in Ben Roethlisberger’s case I don’t think it was a case of lack of intelligence that led him to not wear a helmet. He’s young (24), maybe over confident and stated several times in the past that he dislikes helmets. That being said, I think he’s crazy for not wearing one. Even if he had that’s no guarantee of survival in an accident. I’m guessing the law will be laid down to him now and he will no longer be riding a motorcycle while he’s employed by the Steelers -with our without a helmet.

I was in Pittsburgh for a family wedding this past weekend and not since 1980 have I seen so many Steeler shirts on people. At Kennywood on Sunday I’d say Steeler garb was predominant by a long shot. Pittsburghers are mad at Ben for taking such chances – but they will love and support him and are oh so relieved that he is not hurt too seriously.

Dorothy, I knew you were a Steelers fan and I meant that in a good natured way. Being, myself, an old-time-but-no-longer Baltimore Colts fan, I had to throw that in. We got our asses kicked enough by youz guyz back in the 70’s.

That reminds me, any of you ever see “Diner.” At one point in the movie the characters are lamenting how a friend’s wedding colors will be blue and white, Colts colors. Paul Reiser’s character notes it could be worse, they could have been Steelers fans.

Yes Danny that was a great movie and a funny line! I did not take offense at what you said. I understood completely!

As I was driving through downtown Fort Wayne, 5:10 pm today, rush hour, I followed a motorcycle. He had a helmet…he wasn’t wearing it, it was fastened to the back of his seat!!!

When I was much younger, I used to read pretty much every motorcycle magazine on the market religiously.

One of them had a comment that’s stuck with me to this day: “Helmets are for people who have brains to protect.”

Dwight, me too. I rode a sport bike for years and I used to go to watch the races too. This is when people like Kenny Roberts, Wayne Rainey, Kevin Schwantz and Miguel Duhamel were racing. The pros always wore helmets, on and off the track. And as the saying goes: There are only two types of riders, those who have laid it down and those who will.
