Follow that hybrid — if you can.

I am so glad someone else noticed this. I was thinking it was further evidence of my slow descent into the quicksand of Detroit.

What caught my eye about Al Gore III’s arrest earlier this week was not the famous name, the drugs, the fact he was driving a Prius or his dad’s statement about rehab. It was this: A Prius can go 100 miles per hour? Who knew?

That was my first reaction to the story. “Cool. Who knew?”
Al was supposed to be on Talk of the Nation yesterday. Didn’t show. Supposedly it was a “scheduling conflict”.

I knew. My sister has one and I am surprisingly impressed with it. Not only with the economy (without even trying, she got 49 mpg on a trip to our home) and the user-friendly technology and displays, but with the speed; 90mph without much effort at all. And I am not completely on the hybrid bandwagon.

Did you notice he was picked up from jail in a dark blue Maserati?
    They can definitely go 100.

    Yeah, everybody’s so different … I haven’t changed.

My first thought exactly on the arrest, which I shared w/ my 14-y-o and his pals while picking them up from Transformers. Not sure if they think I am cool or hopeless, but my hope is with the former as they turned the conversation from “Cheney is bad” to “who knew a Prius could go 100?”. Seriously.

    Live Earth!

Hmmm. Well, I care not one scintilla what legal problems Al Gore’s family may or may not have. Leaving all that aside – the idea that a large portion of the folks in the multitudes in the stadiums and other places probably also snicker at evangelists (and their faithful pilgrims) such as Billy Graham (et al)…but this extravaganza looked (to me) like nothing so much as a revival tent meeting, meant to stir people’s emotions, and cleanse their souls.

Not a criticism – simply a reflection about the (universal) things that move large numbers of human beings, and make them (or, more rightly, us) feel better

Anyway – it was cool seeing the Police
