Immortality!

This seems to be going viral — I read it on Facebook, where it’s now being talked about more or less openly — and it deserves, nay requires, its own entry:

The John Goodman character in “Treme,” the upcoming David Simon series for HBO, finds his roots in our very own Ashley Morris. One of his friends is opening the bag based on this photo, which makes it sort of obvious. Ashley was a Saints fan, as we all know.

The confirmation I got warns it’s more of an “inspired by” character, rather than a “based on,” but I for one can say that if I hear Ash’s great FYYFF rant coming out of the mouth of John Goodman, I can die happy.

Premiere is April 11. Can’t. WAIT.

    Hot DIGGITY dog!!!

Edit: Hey how come @ IMDB they don’t show John Goodman listed in the credits for the show? If there are pictures showing him during the production, shouldn’t his profile at IMDB reflect that? I can’t find his name when I search under “Treme” or under his own name. He has several other credits showing “in production” or “post production.” I wonder why it’s not showing up in his credits?

The late addition of the character is not unlike the intuitive addition of two shakes of tobasco before the gumbo is really “done”.

The sharp-tongued professor will certainly give the show character, and an informed bit of spice

Someone can remind me to schedule some repentance later, but I truly hope he was added simply as the only possible vessel to deliver the steaming bowlful of “FYYFF” — which under the circumstances, wasn’t profanity, it was a heartfelt prayer.

So yeah, I’m not even going to repent for hoping that phrase is uttered in “Treme.” It’s cable, sin is different there.

They just have to put it in the script. This is all news to me, as I knew Goodman was cast, but what a nice surprise to see that he will very obviously be playing Morris. I am so geeked for “Treme” that I have installed a new desktop.

I hope the character has a roller derby wife.

I haven’t read Ashley’s widow’s posts in a long time but now this caused me to go take a look. Check this out:

If Simon is indeed accessing Ashley’s blog, you know it’s only a matter of time before we hear the sacred rant. This will be good.
