Deadline crunch.

Well, it starts soon: The final push to get the book done. Which means very light posting until the end of September. Links here, a pic here, but you’ll have to carry most of the load.

Fortunately, I have one. A picture, that is:

thursdaymorning

This was the view as I hit the homestretch on Thursday’s bike ride. Sunrise is coming later and later, but as you can see, it’s still worth seeing. That teeny-tiny dot on the horizon? A freighter, downbound.

Bloggage: My little gal’s band gets more love all the time. I’m so proud of them.

Judge Posner: Everybody’s new hero. (Sorry, Alex: I just don’t have the time or gas to really say much more.)

Have a great Labor Day weekend, my friends. I’ll see you Tuesday.

“the guitar player was like Grand Funk Railroad-Ron Asheton-Jimi Hendrix guitar playing. I couldn’t believe how good she was”

That would be Kate, right? You should be so proud!

Dorothy, I answered you at the end of yesterday’s thread.

On a separate note about marriage, I love to hear a conservative use logic and reason. Go Judge Posner!

The piece on Posner links to this very good read about the constitutional “originalism” game.

Good review’s a good review, don’t think this guy has a real good grasp of Hendrix though… not much common ground between him and Grand Funk except that they were both really loud. Which may be the point.

So… will the band keep going after school starts?

    Gorgeous picture!

Dexter, that is one dandy outfit! I am sure there will be no chafing issues for you.

I read some of the Posner questioning yesterday. Well done.

Dex – that front brake looks a little dodgey!

I love the outfit too, Dex. If I were to dress as in they linked photo, could I ride with you?

I could go for the Almira Gulch look (especially her happenin’ hat!) –

plus, she doesn’t have the crazy looking front brake (maybe the 1939 technology is ahead of whatever year those other photos are from)

Really, her visage is like a NASCAR champion’s

Ah, Jolene — that Victorian bicyclist’s look reminds us all that the Victorian era was only buttoned-down and icy in public.

Basset@6: Nope, don’t see any comparison between Hendrix and Grand Funk. Hendrix would be a compliment; Grand Funk not at all.

Jolene, I was going to say no, but the turkey feathers in the hat won me over. Yes, you may join the ride, and I think since we are all dressed up, we should stop in here:

OK – I confess: it is strange to peak in at Fox News when you know going in that all they’re going to do is annoy you; yet I (occasionally) do it anyway. And I further confess, this following thing amused me (in a mocking sort of way) for several reasons.

    http://latino.foxnews.com/latino/lifestyle/2014/08/29/town-600-sexy-brazilian-women-desperately-seeks-men-for-love-marriage-but-dont/

    an excerpt:

“Here, the only men we single girls meet are either married or related to us. Everyone is a cousin. I haven’t kissed a man for a long time,” 23-year old Nelma Fernandes told the Daily Mirror. “We all dream of falling in love and getting married. But we like living here and don’t want to have to leave the town to find a husband.”

First, the headline made me chortle, and then the obligatory photo made me think it was one of those click-bait things (which, really, it was), and then the writing style just sort of put me off…but it does really seem to be part of “Fox News Latino” – which in turn seems to be quite proud of their decidedly unprofessional, chauvinistic atmosphere. (Not so much “war on women” as “Women? Don’t understand ‘em; never will”

Those girls in Brazil need to petition their legislators to legalize cousinfucking like here in Indiana. They should argue that it will keep them from going gay, which is of paramount importance. Of course, Brazil will have to give women the right to vote before lawmakers will be willing to hear them out.

The cultural referents necessary for a music critic these days must be an impediment. Grand Funk Railroad my ass. The Muffs, motherfucker:

Connie and Dorothy, I’m messing around in Archives.com and I found a clan of Ozingas in Midland Park, NJ in 1900, not related to me but on the same page of the census. And in Wisconsin I found someone whom I think would be my mother’s second cousin named Lucy Michalski. Isn’t that your cat Dorothy?

Cooz, that was a great story, indeed. President Obama should troll the trolls, and for every time they wave the damnable stars and bars, he should wave the Stars and Stripes, and the bloody shirt, and shame them into mumbles and silence
