It must be said: The more I see of this girl, the more I like her. These outfits are just a stitch.

Just a stitch? I’d say barely a stitch.

Last night I watched about 15 minutes of the MTV thing, on replay – popping back and forth from Chris Hayes’ show.
I liked the balloon dress, and didn’t understand the cut-out one

I think it was the interview on Kimmel last week that cracked me. She was funny, self-aware but not self-important, and has this great contralto speaking voice. I could listen to her talk all day.

A couple of people at the party this weekend were tut-tutting about Miley; this even before the MTV thing. I said she’s having a natural reaction to having spent her teen years in the tightly controlled environment of a Disney series. She’s just having her teenage rebellion, albeit a few years late and in a big, public way. Or should I say pubic, judging from those pictures? I think she’ll be okay, though she’ll probably cringe at the photos in a few years.
That said, I’m ready for a bit of modesty to become fashionable.

I don’t care about Miley one way or another. She’s got talent and that will outlast her outrageous phase.
But oh gods, put the tongue back Miley. I am sincerely sick of looking at it.

Look, I am totally opposed to slut shaming. I think women have a right to be sexy. But, hell, this woman is the Whore of Babylon.

Cooz, thanks for the nifty article.
If the woman wants to make a principled stand – go for it, I say.
No, really – GO for it.
If she believes it is for God’s sake that she cannot do the job that the taxpayers are paying her to do, then for God’s sake – go! Be gone!

I’m sure they married her for the government benefits, not the other kind. They can get ready to kiss that good-bye. Although she might make a windfall as a right-wing martyr and get her own TV show just like Sarah Palin.

Married four times? Whoa. If she’s gonna take an Old Testament view of gays, what about Jesus on divorce? Matthew 19:9 “I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery.”
We have quite a few divorced folk at our church and they are welcomed the same way as gays, with open arms. God’s grace is big enough for us all.

I’m surprised more of you NE Indiana folks haven’t picked up on the fact she’s an Apostolic Christian. (Dead giveaway: Hair and dowdy jumper.) If so, my guess is that she entered the church trailing a big redemption narrative, and has made it clear this is her final marriage. The AC church is huge in Bluffton — the economic movers and shakers of the town are all Krauts, as they’re informally called.

Well, the poor woman could definitely use some hair conditioner and a good combout. I’m willing to bet real money she will soon have a gofundme site funneling those fresh bigot dollars to help her in the battle against sin and sodomy. She’s prepping for her role as the latest model of christian persecution. How long before she’s sharing sobs with the Foxbots??

I just hope they release more of Hillary’s emails. “John Boehner is a louche alcoholic who likes to hand out money” ! I’m not sure this is what the Republicans wanted at all.

I watched the linked Kimmel show and I agree with the comment about Miley’s voice, and she seems so confident. What she said about the nipple is so true. What is up with that.
The weather today in Chicago is my least favorite kind. Hot and HUMID. Maybe it’s because I grew up in Miami and it brings it all back to me?

Back from visiting my father. A cousin I hadn’t seen in maybe 40 years was coming through to see friends and family. It was nice meeting her again after all this time but it got strange talking about her sons and daughters who were in their 40s and 50s. I’m not sure to sons and daughters being describes as old enough to be grandparents…

btw – all I know about Bluffton is that a guy I used to work with is from there, and his political views were 2-dimensional (at best), and genuinely, clinically, unfailingly ignorant
Honestly, I cannot say whether his was a willful ignorance, or a more genuinely incurious, rigidly parochial ignorance…not that that makes any substantive difference.
Definitely (and unfairly, I suppose)biased me against anyone who is a Shriner

Didn’t have my Apostolic gaydar turned on. I just assumed she was from Frumptucky, or so far back in the back country that Sears catalogs never see the light of day and are only used where the sun don’t shine.

Holy cow, just had one of the best meals I have ever made. I got 2 baby eggplants at the farmers market and 2 tomatoes. I have no idea how to convey size. I cut the eggplant into slices about 1/4″ thick, drizzled them with olive oil with some fresh garlic that I baked for about 15 mins at 425. I took that out. Had in the meantime chopped 2 ripe tomatoes, drained the chickpeas (again I have no idea of quantity, maybe 1 1/2 cups?). After I let the eggplant sit for a bit I layered the chopped tomatoes, some thinly sliced shallots, a bit of grated mozzarella with some parm sprinkled in there, layered in the chickpeas with the eggplant in a pan. Then baked it all at about 350 for about 45 mins. Amazingly good. My husband and I were groaning with pleasure I must embarrassingly admit. I’m going to remember this meal for a long time. I’m sure the fresh ingredients helped. Mmmmmm.

Deborah, that sounds divine. We’ve got the same weather; due to end late Sunday.
Whenever I see news about people like the clerk, I just think, “Lady, you have no idea.” Here was my radical lesbian agenda today: Worked, did a presentation on spring bulbs over my lunch hour for the master gardener program at the world headquarters of General Mills (wow, corporation settings sure are different from our dowdy government space!), more work, made and ate dinner, did some volunteer work as block club leader. Oh, I did talk to my wife and we kissed a few times in there too. Now I’m settling down for the night with a kinda cheesy but engrossing mystery. Yep, it would be appalling if people like me took over the world.

“Mylie”: Is that an intentional, ironic misspelling?
Anyway, I didn’t watch the Video Music Awards.
