That WGL crowd was always a hoot back in the day – until one stopped and wondered how many of them found their way through their (illogical!) ideological miasma and into the polls, each election day!

Our current rabble rouser (Pat White) has angered me. Your distancing piece describes him to a tee; plus he’s way into a bunker-defense for our disgraced president and his inept minions –

    SO –

I sent him links to two of your DetNews pieces yesterday, only commenting that I thought you (Nance) were exactly right.

We shall see if he has any direct reply

In other news — I was reading Kathleen Parker’s latest column and discovered — *gasp* — that I agree with her!

I mostly agree with her. I didn’t need to see W in that flight suit again, though. Definitely could have done without the remarks about Trent Lott’s house or Bush’s partying past in NO. Ditto on Barbara Bush’s comments about the people in the shelters in Texas. I saw some clergymen on the Today show this morning talking about how all the faiths are coming together in Texas to help the people who relocated. One guy was fine, the other one went on about all the people in the Astrodome being on welfare, some third generation welfare recipients, and now he was going to make sure they all learned skills and got jobs. What an a-hole. Katie Couric tried feebly to temper that comment, but he persisted.

Awww, Katie’s so perky. How can you dislike her? There she was in NO wearing boots standing in fetid water being all reporterish. Right after she was on, Harry Connick Jr. went out on a boat to look for people to rescue. He found a naked old guy, so Harry took off his shirt and put it on the old guy. This gave us all a chance to see how buff Harry is, and what he looks like in waders and no shirt. Katie never took any clothes off, but she changed into waders later in the show.
