Ahh…

Nothing like an 85-degree day to put your winter coat in storage for another year. No muss, no fuss and no products necessary. Think I’ll go find something smelly to roll in.

Spriggy is looking way handsome, but he was very attractive in his natural state as well. You’re right though. He’s going to find something like a dead fish or cow manure and roll in it. I had a dog once who chewed up a bottle of fish emulsion fertilizer and rolled in it.

Mary – what, pray tell, does fish emulsion fertilizer DO exactly?

And yes, Spriggy is a mighty handsome pup!! My Augustus is currently struggling to learn, one of 12 dogs, in his obedience class. Has too much puppy in him, the teacher says, to really pay much attention to the rules. But we’re trying! He does great when we practice at home, but in class he is the very essence of a distracted dog.

As far as I can tell, fish emulsion is liquid fertilizer, made from rotten fish that’s liquified. It smells exactly like you think it might, but worse. It’s good for plants, though. Here at ranchita mary we make some attempt at keeping our garden organic, so the temptations of fish emulsion and compost pit lurk for the pets.

Thanks, Mary, that’s what I figured it was. We bought some stinky mushroom fertilizer last week to assist in the planting of rose bushes, azaleas, butterfly bushes, dahlias, etc. The smellier that stuff is, the better it works, I guess. So far everything is blooming beautifully.

What a handsome pup. My Lab hates the slicker brush which is the only thing that removes his winter coat. He avoided me for a full day after I brushed him with it last week and acted as though I had beaten him viciously. So now his coat is dull and looks like and old chocolate Easter rather than its ususal gleaming brown.

one time i was surfing the tv when i came across a ricki lake makeover show.

i watched it, because usually they’re funny. this show had one of my favorite makeovers — the middle-aged long hair who looks like a biker changed to look like the partner in a high-powered law firm.

that’s the idea that came to my head after i saw the before and after pictures of your dog.
