A friend called me today to ask what I thought of the Epstein mess. I told him, first thing, that if we have to throw Bill Clinton over the gunwale, well, we’d just have to do it. That horndog got the biggest free pass in the world when he evaded significant punishment about Monica. He doesn’t get another.

But as we talked, I started to sort out my own thinking about it, and I think it’s this:

There are some who will think that any revelation of the Epstein affair that doesn’t include a photo of the president getting a BJ from a 13-year-old means he’s innocent, free, in the clear. I figure, if he was so innocent, he’d have had them printed on placemats at Chick-fil-A by now. But honestly, I think what’s going to be revealed, if anything, is something closer to this:

Epstein was rich, Trump is rich, they hang out with other rich people, and rich people don’t think rules apply to them. Any rules, at least behind closed doors. So what will likely emerge is a picture of Epstein as a guy who knew everyone, invited everyone to his parties, had his young masseuses passing canapés and occasionally slipping off to massage or bang this or that guest, and everybody knew what was happening, and further, no one said a word about it. Because they’re rich. Even if they didn’t participate, even if they disapproved, they wouldn’t say boo. Did they see anything directly? No. And it would just make a big mess for everyone, and after all, everybody’s rich. It would break the code.

Trump was ankle-deep, knee-deep, neck-deep in all this, I’d be willing to bet. Every day was “a wonderful secret,” the secret being that they could fuck young teens with impunity.

After all, Trump married a sex worker, maybe two of them. This is going to bother him? Not a chance. The rules are different for people like him, as we’ve all seen.

OK, so life is starting to return to normal. After my week of vacation, I had a week of pedal-to-metal work, then a long weekend of more work, then this week, and I’m hoping that things will settle next. I have enrolled in a creative-writing class at Wayne State, as a “non-matriculating student,” i.e. an auditor, and I have to read, write and prep for twice-weekly classes. My lifeguarding starts up again, in the early mornings instead of evenings, at least this semester. So I have, as they say, a lot on my plate.

But I will continue to show up here. So forward, into the fall, eh?

I’m convinced that Melania was a former sex worker. She may have been a high priced one at that. She married Trump for his Sugar Daddy status because what else would she see in him? And in return he pulled her out of the gutter so to speak, it cost him a lot for connections in the fashion world, which he paid handsomely to do through Vogue and other avenues. She had her anchor baby and brought her parents and sister here too, so she was successful in what she set out to do in the way that she was able to do because she was incredibly beautiful. Was she involved with Epstein, of course, did he introduce her to Trump, maybe? Probably? I speculate that she’s Trump’s dominatrix, because why not? She hates him but it works for her and him both. Is any of this true? Who knows? But if MAGA can speculate about anyone they want, so can I. I’m sick of when they go low we go high. We can call them scum, if they can. Sorry to say any of this, I really am. Things have gotten to below the bottom of the barrel.

I don’t think Melania was the kind of sex worker who charged. Rather, she only dated wealthy men, and the bargain was implied: I will decorate your arm, you will help with my rent. (Or buy me an expensive dress I can return, or a piece of jewelry, or take me to Paris, etc.) I think many of the modeling agencies in NY deal in this sort of thing. Tycoon A wants a bunch of beautiful women decorating his party, he calls his buddy who runs an agency, the women show up, the women connect with his tycoon friends, etc. She certainly didn’t make her money as a model. As far as I know, only one photograph of her actually modeling clothes for money exists, a still from a Ralph Lauren ad. Every cover or feature she appeared in after she met her husband was as DJT’s hot girlfriend who was willing to pose naked on a fur rug, etc. Not the same thing.

The hair stylist I’ve been going to told me about the nude modeling work of the wife of the sociopathic and senescent huckster clown currently occupying the white house.

I read somewhere this morning that Putin ran nude photos of Melania on state television to humiliate the Orange Turd, who has never been anything but proud to have his wife’s junk on display. I think it was in an article about Xi, Un and Putin having their little confab and no doubt sharing laughs over their Useful Idiot.

I don’t know Nancy, I’d say her early nude modeling is fairly telling that she didn’t start with a lot of dignity.

On another note, have you ever watched Hegseth’s body language? This morning I’ve seen a couple of clips with no sound on of him answering some questions about the Venezuelan boat bombing and he looks over-exaggerated like a bully in a badly made movie. Sort of a cross between smug and cruel, his face and body movements are way over the top.

And then there’s the grinning fool standing in front of the White House answering questions about the dismal jobs report. Again watching a clip without sound on, how does he even keep that fake smile on his face all of the time? I don’t even know his name or what his job is for the Trump regime, maybe it’s just to grin like a weirdo in the face of bad news.

No disagreement about Melania, save that I don’t think she was incredibly beautiful; she always had a brittle look that was less come hither than don’t touch me. And if this investigation takes down Clinton, then so be it. If that’s what he did, he deserves it.

It’s taken me about six hours of work, but we’re getting Covid vaccinations tomorrow. Long story short we have to go to a CVS Minute Clinic instead of a pharmacist, and I have no idea what it might cost, despite searching the site. Dennis leaves in a week and I just want it in him. We got the flu a couple of weeks ago; RSV, Pneumonvax, Shingrix in previous years. Masks of course.

I got my jab this morning at CVS. Insurance covered the shot, easy peasey, for now….

I got my COVID shot yesterday at the local CVS. They didn’t charge me anything so I assume insurance covered it. Cost didn’t really matter to me as I was going to get it either way. Our son in Arizona has to have a doctor’s orders to get a COVID vaccine. Idiotic. Stupid. Mind numbing.

My mom had a cardiac event as the doctors are calling it. They say diagnosing the problem won’t help. Her oxygen saturation was 80% and the doctor said you don’t recover from that at her age. This is why we moved back to Michigan, but I was hoping for more than a month’s worth of visits with her.

Walking down the hall of the hospital, I hear a lot of coughing going on. I got a booster of the previous Covid vaccine a few weeks ago. I hope it’s enough because I’ll be spending most of my time there for a while.

Hey Alex: Father John’s the restaurant in that old Baptist Church in Bryan is back open. You had mentioned you had been there a few years ago. I suppose they still serve the buffalo meat. Not for me…I have never been there.

You know, I happily voted for Hillary, but the thing that gave me the biggest pause about doing so was not “her emails,” or her hawkishness, but her husband. (I happily voted for him twice, too.) There was just something creepy to me about him becoming “First Gentleman” and having free reign to wander around the White House he’d besmirched for another 4 or 8 years.

That being said, “he evaded significant punishment about Monica” is a bit of a stretch to me. Having to testify under oath about it, getting impeached and forever losing the respect of supporters like me, who’d managed to “compartmentalize” the many other icky charges against him, seemed pretty significant. It’s like with OJ. He didn’t get convicted of murder, as he should have, but his life was severely impacted in many ways, and we all know he did it. I wouldn’t really say that “he got away with it” in the same way that so many white-collar criminals who never face any consequences at all manage to.

And THAT being said, if ole Bill’s guilty of anything with regard to Epstein — under the bus with him, for sure. The fact that GOPhers don’t understand that most Dems aren’t trying to cover for him at this late date tells you all you need to know about how THEY consider justice to be quite malleable when somebody on their side is caught for something. Uh, Gym Jordan, cough, cough…

Little did I realize that we were trading Bill wandering around the White House for having a nude model and the third wife of a mob boss as “First Lady.” Largely because of the votes of devout evangelicals and other “Christians,” don’t you know. I’ve paid very little attention to her — I don’t think I knew her name until 2016 — but I agree with Julie. She used to be pretty, in an everyday way. The viper look she chose to morph herself into does nothing for me.

And another thing, while I’m spouting this nonsense. 😉 If the country survives as a republic and we ever have Nuremberg-like trials for some of the criminals involved in this long national nightmare, I hope some of the titans who just showed up to fawn over the orange felon in the Oval Office get some time being grilled.

Some of the most powerful men in the world sucking up to an inveterately unlawful, incompetent buffoon like he was Solomon. Why? Because he’s used the office of the presidency to blackmail plenty of others and will turn on any of the titans in a second for political reasons if they step out of line. Just disgusting. It would be almost unbelievable if one didn’t realize what a fucked-up, totally corrupt, new gilded age we’re living in.

I disliked Bill Clinton because he was Reublican Lite. He was smart and shrewd, but also callow and entitled. His affair with Lewinsky nauseated me. Not because he cheated on his wife –his reputation as a horndog goes way back– but because he seduced a star struck 22-year-old subordinate in the sanctity of the Oval Office. And then he threw her under the bus. His eight years probably doomed Al Gore and look what we got.

David C, I’m so sorry about your mom. Saying she won’t recover is rather grim, but I hope the prognosis improves.

We got our new Covid boosters this afternoon. Florida decided you do need a prescription to get it from a pharmacist, so we made appointments at Minute Clinic. The check-in process was a cluster supreme and then we had to answer health questions for 15 minutes each, but it’s done and dusted. She told me there’s no charge, fingers crossed because she also said we’re out of network.

Dex, I didn’t know that Father John’s had closed. I’ve been wanting to go back because they offered one of the best charcuterie boards we’ve ever had and the place had a very cool vibe to it.

Today I did the annual West Central home and garden tour and went through only one of the houses. I was having such a marvelous time running into old friends on the streets that I couldn’t tear myself away to stand in the long lines of people waiting to be admitted to the various dwellings on exhibit this year. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect.

Been recovering from a nasty sinus infection that migrated into my lungs and is still making me cough weeks later. This one seems to be going around and lots of people have it, but so far nobody of my acquaintance has tested positive for COVID.

Is there a new COVID vaccine that’s different than the last one? CVS has been texting and e-mailing me about setting up an appointment for a flu shot but there has been no mention of COVID.

I was so disappointed when Clinton did his deed, I could not beleive how stupid that was, stupid and horrible. I used to read Monica Lewinsky lo these many years later on one of the social medias, I don’t even remember which one anymore. She turned into a savvy, interesting person, but boy was she put through the mill.

Tomorrow we head back to Chicago, where the weather seems quite nice lately, I hope it stays that way. We also have an upcoming trip to Boston and Cape Cod. We were going to stay in Province Town but decided on Chatham instead, less touristy. We are going whale watching on our wedding anniversary on the 23rd.

Our old church is usually part of the West Central tour, providing not just a beautiful building but also a potty stop. I welcomed visitors for many years, and they all seemed to be having a great time.

We got the updated Covid vaccine today, and it’s my understanding that last year’s has been withdrawn. I think Indiana Governor Braun is playing the same games as DeSantis and you may have to have a doctor’s prescription or go to a clinic as we did. The NPs at Minute Clinic were run ragged.

Your rich people rules makes perfect sense, but he only needs to avoid photographic proof, and that only maybe. His base will love him saying you know, I didn’t try to regulate or run what might have been going on, I was just relaxing with my friends. I never saw anything bad, anything ugly. The arguments that make sense to me are that those records include financial data, and document where Trump’s money came from and maybe where it went. That Trump would instinctively burn down Washington to avoid coming out.
